Andrew Brought People to Jesus
Andrew: He Brought People to Jesus “Some Greeks… asked Philip, ‘Sir, we wish to see Jesus.’ Philip went and told Andrew; Andrew and Philip went and told Jesus.” ~ John 12:21-22
While often overshadowed by his outspoken brother Peter, Andrew provides a compelling example of how Christians can actively bring others to Jesus. His actions, though subtly woven into the Gospel narratives, oOer a blueprint for sharing faith with genuine compassion and intentionality.
Andrew’s ministry was characterized by a proactive spirit. He didn’t wait for opportunities to arise for spiritual conversations - he created them!
In John 1:40-42, we witnessed him immediately bringing his brother Simon to Jesus, declaring, “We have found the Messiah.” This sense of urgency should resonate with every believer. The Gospel message is too important to keep to ourselves; it demands to be shared with those closest to us, just as Andrew did.
Furthermore, Andrew possessed a remarkable ability to see the individual amidst the crowd. In John 6:8-9, he presents a boy with five loaves and two fish to Jesus. His example calls for us to be attentive to those often overlooked or marginalized, extending the invitation of Christ’s love to even the least (cf. Mat 18:1-6).
Finally, in John 12:20-22, when some Greeks asked Philip to see Jesus, it was Andrew he turned to for help. He didn’t merely sympathize with the spiritual needs of others; he actively sought to connect them with Jesus. Andrew’s approach was marked by both compassion and action.
Ultimately, Andrew’s life serves as a powerful reminder that sharing our faith is not merely a suggestion, but a mandate (cf. Mat 28:19-20; Mrk 16:15). This involves cultivating genuine relationships, recognizing the needs of those around us, and intentionally creating opportunities to proclaim the Gospel.

Respond:
- Like Andrew bringing Peter, who is someone you know that you can bring to Jesus?
- Andrew saw a small boy among the crowd. Identify a barrier that has kept you from seeing people from the crowds and what do you need to do to remove it?
- Philip went to Andrew because he knew he would help get people to Jesus. In what ways could you make yourself more approachable as someone known for bringing others to Jesus?
Prayer Prompt:
- Father, give me a heart like Andrew's that brings people to Jesus.
